Tbilisi, Georgia

Am rămas impresionată de capitala asta frumoasă pe care am avut ocazia să o vizitez în scop profesional în vara lui 2018. Și cum orice călătorie business îți oferă o bună ocazie să descoperi frumusețile unui oraș iată-mă hălăduind pe străzile din Tbilisi cu sau fără ghid turistic. Nu ratez oportunitatea de a vizita orașele în care merg cu treaba, până la urmă doar nu te duci acolo că să lenevești seara în camera de hotel :). Sau cel puțin eu nu fac asta.

Tbilisi este de altfel cel mai mare oraș al Georgiei, denumirea internațională cel mai des folosită fiind cea de Tiflis. Interesant este că numele se traduce în “loc cald” datorită numeroaselor izvoare termale cu sulf regăsite chiar în centrul istoric al orașului. Intr-adevar e un loc cald, cu vreme faina si oameni super ospitalieri.

EN: I was impressed by this beautiful capital when visiting it in the summer of 2018. Thinking that any business trip does offer you a good opportunity to discover the beauties of a city, here I am wandering down the streets of Tbilisi with or without a guide. I do not usually miss the opportunity to visit the cities I travel to, despite the fact that the daily schedule is quite tight, but you just do not go there to lie in the hotel room in the evening 🙂 Or at least I do not do that.

Tbilisi is also the largest city of Georgia, the most commonly used international name for the capital being Tiflis. Interestingly, the name translates into “warm place” due to the numerous sulphur springs found right in the historic city center. It’s a warm place indeed, with hot and nice weather and super hospitable people.

Bunicul meu mi-a povestit câte ceva despre Georgia, însă trebuie să recunosc, nu am acordat destulă atenție detaliilor. Înainte să plec, același bunic îmi spune: “În sfârșit mergi și tu într-un loc pe care l-am văzut și eu de câteva ori, bravo!”. 💪👏 Nu spune bravo des 👅. O să îl surprind cu o poză făcută pe o stradă unde s-a pozat și el în urmă cu 41 de ani (interesant e că locul arată la fel că atunci și că eu mi l-am amintit dintr-o poză văzută acum mulți ani la bunici, să fie poate vreo 25 👀).

EN: My grandfather told me some stuff about Georgia, but I have to admit, I did not pay enough attention to the details. Before I went there, the same grandfather tells me: “Finally you go to a place I’ve seen myself several times many many years ago, bravo!” He does not say bravo too often. I’ll surprise him with a picture taken on a street where he also posed 41 years ago (interestingly, the place looks the same and that I remembered the spot from a picture seen many years ago at my grandparents house, maybe 25 year ago or so).

• Tur de oraș condus de Maka, o experiență minunată de altfel. Dacă treceți pe aici recomand cu căldură o plimbare in orașul vechi alaturi de ea. PS. Maka organizează și tururi de degustare vin 🥂. Cu ocazia asta îi mulțumesc pentru pachetul de cărți de joc primit, promit să am maaare grijă de el 🃏;
• Centrul vechi – rar vezi ceva mai frumos…poate pentru că aici arhitectură v e c h e (și foarte veche) se îmbină cu n o u l într-un mod incredibil? 🏛🕌🌉🌇. Toată arhitectură orașului e de fapt un amestec de structuri medievale, neoclasice, Beaux Arts, art nouveau, staliniste și moderne.
• Orașul îți aduce aminte mult de copilărie 👶🏻aici încă găsești 🍿, pufuleți, 🥜 și semințe la pahar pe stradă;

• Mâncare – lista de mâncăruri tradiționale Georgiene o puteți găși AICI; Dacă vrei să pui câteva kilograme rapid e cel mai bun loc să faci asta. Ce feluri de mâncare mi-au plăcut mult…? Greu de spus, dar las aici un short list: khachapuri, kupati, mchadi, toate tipurile de brânză pe care le-am gustat (mai puțîn cea de 🐐), khinkali, salate. P.S. Majoritatea dish-urilor conțin carne sau nuci 👅. Interesant este că oamenii sunt fit cu toate că mănâncă mult 🕺. Nu adaug nume de localuri pentru că aici mâncarea este bună peste tot…din fericire ☑️

• Vinuri foarte bune – dacă nu știați deja, Georgia este – deocamdată – considerată a fi țara unde s-a produs prima oară vinul. Acum 8000 de ani mai exact…Vinul specific local e produs în vase de lut care se îngroapă în pământ și care poartă denumirea de “Qvevri” 🏺. Gustul se aseamănă mult vinului produs acasă în România de bunicii noștri 👴🏻. Personal prefer vinul georgian produs după metodă europeană – Saperavi & Mukhuzani. G.vino e un wine bar recomandat de localnici unde se pot degusta vinuri organice🍷“Gaumajus”(Noroc!)

• Moda străzii – Dacă ar trebui să compar Tbilisi cu un alt oraș european la capitolul modă, cred că aș alege Berlinul. Rar vezi așa mulți tineri (și nu numai) îmbrăcați bine de tot 👚👖👗👡👛. Data viitoare promit să nu ratez magazinele cu haine create de designeri locali.
• Chacha Georgian – schnaps local 🥃
• Prețuri foarte accesibile (restaurante, magazine de suveniruri, supermarket, magazine tutun) ➡️ Moneda locală este GEL – lari georgieni. Nu cred că am plătit vreodată 3 RON pe un magnet de frigider 😃. Costurile cu cazarea la hotel sunt în schimb destul de piperate 💰 dar condițiile foarte bune. Recomand Ibis Styles Hotel, central, camera faină. În inima centrului vechi am văzut și un Boutique Hotel, cred că e cool și acolo 🏩. Dacă bugetul va premite puteți încerca și Stamba Hotel, unul dintre cele mai mișto hoteluri din lume, conform topurilor actuale :D. Spun că puteți încerca pentru că e mereu fully booked 😉
• Scrisul georgian – alfabetul lor conține 33 de litere, foarte ușor de învățat. Interesant este că numele magazinelor este și el tradus în georgiana, prin urmare H&M se scrie așa ჰ & მ. Cred că o pagină de ziar 📰 se poate confundă ușor cu un tablou. P.S.Nu există litere mari și nici diferențiere de gen feminin/masculin. Limba vorbită cred că se învață greu totuși;

• Turkish Airlines – cea mai bună companie aeriană cu care am călătorit până acum ✈️. În plus, nu se supără nimeni din cauza escalei în Istanbul având în vedere magazinele de acolo 👉🏻 🕷în portofel. Mai nou există varianta unui zbor direct către Tbilisi cu Tarom, iar prețul pornește de la 140 de EUR în funcție de perioada aleasă.

EN WOW STUFF

• City tour with Maka, a wonderful experience. If you travel to Tbilisi and plan to visit and understand more about the city itself I warmly recommend a walk in the old town with her. PS. Maka also organizes wine tasting tours.

• The old center of the city – rarely see something more beautiful … maybe because here the new and the very old architecture blends together in an incredible way? . The whole architecture of the city is actually a mixture of medieval, neoclassical, Beaux Arts, art nouveau, Stalinist and modern structures.

• The town reminds much of your childhood, as you can still find old ladies selling sunflower seeds on the street;

• The Food – the list of traditional Georgian dishes can be found HERE; If you want to gain a few pounds fast, it’s the best place to do that. What kind of dishes I liked a lot …? It’s hard to say, but here’s a short list of mine: khachapuri, kupati, mchadi, all kinds of cheese I tasted (let alone), khinkali, salads. P.S. Most dishes contain meat or nuts. Interestingly, people are fit altthough they eat a lot. I cannot suggest a good place to eat though because they have good food everywhere … fortunately

• Very good wines – if you do not already know, Georgia is – for the time being – considered to be the country where the wine was first produced. More than 8000 years ago … Specific local wine is produced in clay pots that are buried beneath the earth and are called “Qvevri”. The taste is much like the wine produced in Romania by our grandparents. Personally I prefer Georgian wine produced using the European method – Saperavi & Mukhuzani. G.vino is a wine bar recommended by locals where organic wines can also be tasted “Gaumajus” (Cheers!)

• Street fashion – If I have to compare Tbilisi with another European city and its fashion, I think I would choose Berlin. You can rarely see so many young people (and not only) dressed up so well. Next time, I promise I won”t miss shops selling clothes created by local designers.

• Chacha Georgian – local schnaps

• Very affordable prices (restaurants, souvenir shops, supermarkets, tobacco shops) The local currency is Georgian GEL. I do not think I ever paid $ 3 on a fridge magnet. The hotel accommodation costs are rather high, but the conditions are very good. I would recommend the Ibis Styles Hotel, where I stayed in Tbilisi for its central location and flamboyant atmosphere. In the heart of the old town I saw a Boutique Hotel, I think it’s cool in there as well. If the budget prevents you, you can try Stamba Hotel, one of the world’s nicest and smartest hotels, according to the current charts: D. I say you couls try because it’s always fully booked

• The Georgian script – their alphabet contains 33 letters, very easy to learn. Interestingly, the names of the stores are also translated into Georgian, so H & M is written so ჰ & მ. I think a newspaper page can easily be confused with a beautiful painted picture. There are no large letters and no female / male gender differentiation. I think it”s hard to learn the spoken language though;

• Turkish Airlines – the best airline I’ve ever traveled with. In addition, no one gets l grumpy because of the stopover in Istanbul taking into consideration all the shops and the things you could do despite the long haul. There is an alternative to fly with a direct flight to Tbilisi viaTarom, and the return ticket price starts at EUR 140 depending on the period chosen for travel.

• Traficul – nu e îngrozitor dar se conduce destul de haotic. Cred că de mult nu am mai avut palpitații la inima în 🚕 pe drum către aeroport 😃
• Destul de multă gălăgie pe străzi

• The Traffic – it’s not terrible but it’s pretty chaotic. I think this is the first time I had heart palpitations on my way to the airport

• A lot of noise in the streets

Recomand cu drag o vacanță aici, fie ea și foarte scurtă, mai ales acum.

Tbilisi, orașul bijuterie nu este încă exploatat la maxim. În 5 ani…va fi diferit cu siguranță 🏙.

EN: As a conclusion, I would love to spend some holidays here, especially now. Tbilisi, this jewel town is not yet fully exploited. In five years … it will surely be different.
