Hotel hopping

Nu stăm locului o clipă, nici măcar în vacanțele scurte de la mare. Și pentru că ne-am dorit să vedem ce înseamnă hotel în regim all inclusive versus hotel cu mic dejun si pranz incluse pe litoralul nostru, am mers pe varianta de cazare două zile la Hotel Mera Onix în Jupiter urmat de două zile la Hotel Iaki în Mamaia. 4 zile faine pe litoralul Marii Negre, insorite, de Rusalii (13-17 Iunie).

Nu o să compar cele două hoteluri pentru că nu are sens, pentru noi e clar că data viitoare alegem varianta Iaki cu rezervare făcută din timp în funcție de ofertele afișate pe Booking.com sau chiar pe site-ul hotelului. Voi scrie un articol complet despre Hotel Iaki în curând. Un pic mai dificil cu zilele de concediu anul asta, dar poate reușim să mai dăm o fugă de weekend vara asta în Mamaia, tare ne-a plăcut aici.

Avem și alți prieteni care preferă să schimbe hotelurile în vacanțe, deci nu suntem doar noi tacaniti la capitolul asta :).

Acum depinde foarte mult și de locația aleasă pentru vacanță, de obicei hotel hopping-ul se pretează călătoriilor un pic mai lungi menite să acopere o regiune mai mare de interes sau poate chiar weekend-urilor prelungite în țară. Cam ce am făcut noi acum la mare. În cazul weekend-ului prelungit în țară, e destul de important ca distanța dintre hotelurile selectate să nu fie totuși una foarte mare, tocmai pentru a nu pierde extrem de mult timp pe drum. Nu vrea nimeni să stea în mașină ore întregi când poate petrece timpul respectiv la plajă sau mai bine pe terase și prin carciumi.

Dacă ar fi să listez motivele pentru care, uneori, preferăm hotel hopping-ul, primele 9 care îmi vin în minte ar fi următoarele:

1. Diversitate – În cazul în care îți place să experimentezi locații faine, cu siguranță schimbarea hotelului după 2 zile îți oferă opțiunea asta. Mai ales dacă și copilul este de acord cu mutatul bagajelor etc. Noi suntem un caz fericit, Mara a ajuns să ne întrebe când schimbăm hotelul tocmai pentru că așa este învățată de mică.
2. Oferte bune de preț practicate de unele hoteluri doar pentru anumite zile ale săptămânii.
3. Disponibilitate redusă a camerelor în cazul hotelurilor căutate, în special în sezon – Sunt mari șanse să poți găsi camere disponibile pentru o singură noapte sau poate două in cazul hotelurilor faine și mereu cautate de turiști, cum ar fi și cele două vizitate de noi în weekend.
4. Posibilitatea de a sta în mai multe orașe/stațiuni – De data asta am fost în Jupiter și în Mamaia cu oprire la Plaja Tuzla și un evident stop pentru alimentare cu cafea și papa în Constanța. Dacă îți place să descoperi cât mai multe orașe sau stațiuni și ale lor plaje, mutatul cu bagaj cu tot e ceea ce îți trebuie.
5. Cazare în funcție de vreme – La noi la mare vremea poate fi complet diferită de la o stațiune la alta. Din păcate nu prea poți știi asta din timp și nu prea funcționeaza ideea de selectat hotelul de pe o zi pe alta, mai ales in sezon, insa sunt locații unde poți face asta ușor. În Sicilia spre exemplu, unde am mers cu mașina, tot cu Mara, rezervam camera de hotel sau apartamentul pe Airbnb din mers, ghidați de atracțiile locale și de vreme în același timp. 
6. Poți descoperi hoteluri pe gustul tău, unde să îți dorești să revii poate an de an. Dacă până acum veneam la Iaki doar în extrasezon, de acum știm că aici putem reveni liniștiți și în sezon și că nimic nu ne va deranja în scurtele escapade la mare.
7. Poți testa gama de servicii oferite de hoteluri, incluzând aici și ceea ce presupune un mic dejun/demipensiune/all inclusive sau locuri de joacă pentru copii, evenimente organizate seara. Pentru noi contează destul de mult micul dejun spre exemplu, așa că atunci când rezerv camerele de hotel o fac și în funcție de review-urile care conțin informații despre subiect. În cazul vacanțelor menite să ne relaxeze creierul, la mare de obicei, pe locul doi ca interes pentru noi, ar fi spațiile de joacă amenajate pentru copii. Spuneam în alt articol că părinți fericiți = copil fericit și vice versa. Dacă suntem doar noi doi, evident asta e ultima noastră grijă 🙂
8. Nu te plictisești niciodată în vacanță :). 
9. Dacă te enervează un hotel, supărarea pricinuită e de scurtă durată și măcar ai ocazia să te bucuri de următorul rapid :). Sau cel puțin speri asta.

Singurul dezavantaj ar fi faptul că trebuie să tot faci și să desfaci bagaje, dar acum depinde și de experiența fiecăruia. Mie nu îmi ia mai mult de jumătate de ora să fac un bagaj, tocmai pentru că hainele nepurtate rămân mereu aranjate frumos în troler, de unde le și scoatem când avem nevoie. Nu le aranjez în dulapurile din cameră decât dacă sejurul în hotel durează cel puțîn 5 zile, regulă proprie. Jucăriile și creioanele de colorat ale Marei le punem separat în micul ei troller Samsonite, special pentru așa ceva, acțiune ce nu durează mai mult de 1 minut.

Așa că nu rămâne decât să adunăm hainele folosite în pungi speciale, să punem gențile cu cosmeticale în troler și să închidem fermoarul. 

EN: We never settle down, not even when going at the seaside. Just because we wanted to see what Romanian seaside could offer in terms of an all inclusive hotel versus a hotel with breakfast and lunch included, we devided to stay for two days at Hotel Mera Onix in Jupiter followed by two days at Hotel Iaki in Mamaia. 4 sunny days at the Black Sea, 4 beautiful and sunny days actually, on the ocasion of Pentecost Celebration. I will not compare the two hotels because it does not make sense to do that, for us it is clear that next time we will choose Hotel Iaki with no hesitation :). Reservations can via Booking.com or even on the hotel’s website, just make sure you do it well in advance in order to benefit from the best offers. I will for sure write a complete article about Hotel Iaki soon. It might be a little more difficult with spending some extra holiday days this summer, but we would love to have another prolongued weekend in Mamaia, we really loved it in here.

We do have other friends who often prefer to change hotels on holidays, so we are not alone and not the craziest around. Of course, hotel hopping option is not for everyone and it also depends greatly on the location of the vacation, being rather suitable for a long trip that is meant to cover a bigger area of interest or even extended weekends spent in the country. That’s actually what we have done now.

When doing this during extended weekends in the country, it is quite important that the selected hotels are not far from each other, precisely for not wasting too much time on the road. No one wants to stay in the car for hours and I guess that anyone would prefer to spend the time at the beach or even better, on terraces/restaurants.

If I were to list the reasons why we sometimes prefer hotel hopping, the first 9 that I have now in my mind would be the following:

1. Diversity – If you like experiencing different locations, certainly changing the hotel after 2 days gives you this chance. Especially if the child also agrees with constant transfer of the luggage and stuff etc. We are a happy example, Mara often coming to ask us if we change the hotel soon, precisely because she is used to this since she was just a baby.
2. Good price deals practiced by some hotels for specific days of the week.
3. Low availability of rooms in top hotels, especially during the high season – There are higher chances to find rooms available for just one night or maybe two in the case of the hotels that are always in demand for tourists, such as those two I was telling you about.
4. Possibility to stay and visit several cities / resorts – This time we stayed in Jupiter and Mamaia with a short stop in between at Tuzla Beach and an obvious and well deserved break for good coffee and lunch in Constanta. If you like to discover many cities or resorts and their beaches as well, just take your luggage and leave, that is all you need.
5. Accommodation selected or changed based on the weather conditions – At the seaside the weather may be completely different from one resort to another. Unfortunately, you don’t know this well in advance and it doesn’t usually work reserving the hotel room from one day to another at the sea side in Romania, especially during the high season, but there are many places where you can do it easily. In Sicily, for example, where we went by car, together with Mara, we used to book the hotel room or the Airbnb apartment on the go, guided by local attractions and weather at the same time.
6. You can discover hotels you will eventually love, places where you definetly want to come back year after year. So far, we had only come to Iaki during the low season, but now we know that a stay in this wonderful hotel will never bother us during our short summer sea side escapades.
7. You can test the entire range of services offered by hotels, including breakfast / half board / all inclusive meals or children’s playgrounds, events organized in the evenings during diner time. For us, breakfast matters the most, so when booking hotel rooms, I always read the reviews that contain information about the subject. When going in a vacation meant to relax our brains, usually the second most important hotel facilities for us, are the children playgrounds. I said it in another article but I will say it again and again, happy parents = happy child and vice versa. If it’s a vacation for just the two of us, obviously this is our last concern:)
8. You never get bored :).
9. If a hotel is annoying, this is short term feeling, and you have the chance to enjoy the next one quite quick :). Or at least you’re hoping for that.

The only downside of hotel hoping is the fact that you often have to load and unload the luggage, but it does depend on everyone’s experience and speed when doing that. It does not take me more than half an hour to finish loading the luggage, just because the clean clothes always stay nicely arranged in the trolley. I don’t always put the clothes in the closet unless the stay in the hotel lasts for at least 5 days, this being my own rule. Mara’s colorful toys and pencils are packed separately in her little Samsonite trolley, as this activity takes me no more than 1 minute.

So before we leave the room, all we have to do is gather the clothes we already used in the special laundry bags, put the travel cosmetics bags in the trolley and close the zipper.
